Genesis 1:9-13 Day Three of Creation
9 Then God said, "Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear"; and it was so. 10 And God called the dry land Earth, and the gathering together of the waters He called Seas. And God saw that it was good. 11 Then God said, "Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth"; and it was so. 12 And the earth brought forth grass, the herb that yields seed according to its kind, and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed is in itself according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 13 So the evening and the morning were the third day. NKJV
Here we learn some very interesting things about the early earth and its topography:
Y Again the Godhead is referred to by the plural name “Elohiym” translated into English as God.
Y Originally we learn that there was only one body of water on the earth’s surface called Seas since so many waters were gathered together in one place. There were not the divided continents and seas as we find on the earth today
Y Also there was only one land mass called “Earth.” So when God commanded the first parentage of man and animal to multiply and fill the earth, it was literally possible to reach every place on earth on foot. This was also the state of the earth after the Great Flood of Noah’s day. The earth was not divided into continents and islands, or the waters into many seas until the days of Peleg as described in [Genesis 10:25].
Y All types of vegetation were created on the third day before there was any light of the sun in the sky to sustain it, the Light of God was sufficient to sustain life. Remember [John 1:1-5] which says:
1:1 In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God, and the
Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him,
and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light
of men. 5 And the light shines
in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. NKJV
This text had a very literal meaning in creation as well as a spiritual insight for believers today.
Y And again God wanted us to distinguish between the long time expanse often applied to the word day and a single turn of the earth by using the term “evening and morning” for clarifying and defining the time expanse actually used.
Y Elohiym twice declared His work of creation as “Good” in creative work with land and seas and again concerning living things. [see verses 10 and 12]
There is clearly a difference between the Evolutionists Theory and the Revealed Truth of God and His work of creation. The question we face is, do we believe God and His revelation of fact, or do we believe man and his hypothetical theories?
