Covenant with Israel

When We made a covenant with the Israelites We said:  "Serve none but Allah.  Show kindness to your parents, to your kinsfolk, to orphans, and to the destitute. Exhort men to righteousness. Attend to your prayers, and render the alms levy."

Al-Baqarah    The Cow 2:83

Covenant with Israel

Allah made a covenant with the Israelites and raised among them twelve chieftains.  Allah said:  "I shall be with you.  If you attend to your prayers and render the alms levy; if you believe in My apostles and assist them and give Allah a generous loan, I shall forgive you your sins and admit you to gardens watered by running streams.  But he that hereafter denies Me shall stray from the right path.

Al-Maidah      The Table  5:12

Covenant

We made a covenant with you, as We did with the other prophets; with Noah and Abraham, with Moses and Jesus son of Mary.  A solemn covenant We made with them, so that He might question the truthful about their truthfulness.  But for the unbelievers He has prepared a woeful punishment.

Al-Ahzab     The Confederate Tribes  33:7-8

Covenant with Israel

Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.' These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel."

Ex 19:5-6    NKJV

Then the LORD said to Moses, "Write these words, for according to the tenor of these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel."

So he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread nor drank water. And He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.

Ex 34:27-28   NKJV

Covenant with Israel

9 And God said to Abraham: "As for you, you shall keep My covenant, you and your descendants after you throughout their generations. 10 This is My covenant which you shall keep, between Me and you and your descendants after you: Every male child among you shall be circumcised; 11 and you shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskins, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between Me and you. 12 He who is eight days old among you shall be circumcised, every male child in your generations, he who is born in your house or bought with money from any foreigner who is not your descendant. 13 He who is born in your house and he who is bought with your money must be circumcised, and My covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant. 14 And the uncircumcised male child, who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, that person shall be cut off from his people; he has broken My covenant."

Gen 17:9-14  NKJV

Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine.

Ex 19:4-5  NKJV

Covenant through Abraham

The Cow 2:122-2:150  pages 22-25

Claim that the Covenant was given by Allah to Abraham and Ishmael and that Abraham and Ishmael built the House.  The Cow 2:122

They say:  "Accept the Jewish or the Christian faith and you shall be rightly guided."

Say "By no means!  We believe in the faith of Abraham the upright one.  He was no idolater."  The Cow 2:132

We believe in Allah and that which has been revealed to us; in what was revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and the tribes; to Moses and Jesus and the other prophets by their Lord.  We make no distinction among any of them, and to Him we submit. The Cow 2:136

Abraham, his father, Isaac and Jacob

You shall also recount in the Book the story of Abraham:  He was a saintly man and a prophet.  He said to his father:  “Why do you serve a worthless idol, a thing that can neither hear nor see?”

“Father, things you know nothing of have come to my knowledge:  therefore follow me, that I may guide you along an even path.”

“Father, do not worship Satan; for Satan has rebelled against the Lord of Mercy.”

“Father, I fear that a scourge will fall upon you from the Merciful, and you will become one of Satan’s minions.”

He replied:  “Do you dare renounce my gods, Abraham?  Desist, or I will stone you.  Leave my house this instant!”

“Peace be with you,”  said Abraham.  “I shall implore my Lord to forgive you:  for to me He has ever been gracious.  But I will not live with you or with your idols.  I will pray to my Lord, and may my prayers to my Lord not be in vain.

When Abraham had cast off his people and the idols which they worshipped, We gave him Isaac and Jacob.  Each of them We made a prophet, and We bestowed on them gracious gifts and high renown.

Mary 19:39-19:46   page 216-217

Ishmael

And in the Book you shall tell of Ishmael:  he, too, was a man of his word, an apostle, and a prophet.

He enjoined prayer and almsgiving on his people, and his Lord was pleased with him.

Covenant through Abraham and Isaac

Gen 11:26-32

26 Now Terah lived seventy years, and begot Abram, Nahor, and Haran.

27 This is the genealogy of Terah: Terah begot Abram, Nahor, and Haran. Haran begot Lot. 28 And Haran died before his father Terah in his native land, in Ur of the Chaldeans. 29 Then Abram and Nahor took wives: the name of Abram's wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran the father of Milcah and the father of Iscah. 30 But Sarai was barren; she had no child.

31 And Terah took his son Abram and his grandson Lot, the son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law Sarai, his son Abram's wife, and they went out with them from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to the land of Canaan; and they came to Haran and dwelt there. 32 So the days of Terah were two hundred and five years, and Terah died in Haran.

NKJV

Gen 12:1-6

12:1 Now the LORD had said to Abram:

"Get out of your country, From your family  And from your father's house, To a land that I will show you.

2 I will make you a great nation;

I will bless you and make your name great;

And you shall be a blessing.

3 I will bless those who bless you,

And I will curse him who curses you;

And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed."

4 So Abram departed as the LORD had spoken to him, and Lot went with him. And Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran. 5 Then Abram took Sarai his wife and Lot his brother's son, and all their possessions that they had gathered, and the people whom they had acquired in Haran, and they departed to go to the land of Canaan. So they came to the land of Canaan.

NKJV

Gen 17:1-14

17:1 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to Abram and said to him, "I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless. 2 And I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly." 3 Then Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him, saying: 4 "As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations. 5 No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you a father of many nations. 6 I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you. 7 And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you. 8 Also I give to you and your descendants after you the land in which you are a stranger, all the land of Canaan, as an everlasting possession; and I will be their God."

NKJV

Gen 17:15-18

15 Then God said to Abraham, "As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name. 16 And I will bless her and also give you a son by her; then I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of peoples shall be from her." 17 Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart, "Shall a child be born to a man who is one hundred years old? And shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?" 18 And Abraham said to God, "Oh, that Ishmael might live before You!"

NKJV

Gen 17:19-22

19 Then God said: "No, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his descendants after him. 20 And as for Ishmael, I have heard you. Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly. He shall beget twelve princes, and I will make him a great nation. 21 But My covenant I will establish with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear to you at this set time next year." 22 Then He finished talking with him, and God went up from Abraham.

NKJV

Face Mecca

Which ever way you depart, face toward the Holy Mosque (Mecca).

Face Jerusalem

Solomon's prayer suggested that wherever one travels when they pray they should pray toward the Temple in Jerusalem.

1 Kings 8:22-53, 2 Chron 6:1-42

There is no commandment from God in the Bible to face in any direction when praying.  However Daniel faced Jerusalem when he prayed.

And during the Kingdom age Zechariah said:

Yes, many peoples and strong nations

Shall come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem,

And to pray before the LORD.'

Zech 8:22   NKJV

Covenant with Christians

With those who said they were Christians We made a covenant also, but they too have forgotten much of what they were exhorted to do.  Therefore We stirred among them enmity and hatred, which shall endure till the Day of Resurrection, when Allah will declare to them all that they have done.

Al-Maidah      The Table  5:14

Covenant with Christians

For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Matt 26:28  NKJV

You are sons of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, 'And in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.'  To you first, God, having raised up His Servant Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from your iniquities."  Acts 3:25-26  NKJV

For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.  None of them shall teach his neighbor, and none his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' for all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them.  For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more."  Heb 8:10-12  NKJV

"This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,"  then He adds, "Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more."   Heb 10:16-17  NKJV
